Burmester claims victory in Miami’s dramatic playoff!
Sergio Garcia entered the third and final round of LIV Golf Miami with a two shot lead over Tyrell Hatton, Matthew Wolff, Talor Gooch, and Dean Burmester.
A birdie on 17 from Sergio, and a bogey on 18 from Dean would see Sergio Garcia playing the 18th hole just needing to make par to win. An unfortunate 3 putt bogey put him in a playoff. After matching pars on the first playoff hole, Sergio hit his approach shot into the water and made bogey.
Dean would sink his 3.5 foot par putt to claim victory in dramatic fashion. Matthew Wolff rounded out the podium, and Legion XIII took the team event. Jon Rahm made a long birdie putt on his last hole to secure the victory for his team.
Congratulations to Dean and Legion XIII!
Check out this clip of Burmester celebrating with some fans he’d just met, who were in town from South Africa!

Akshay Bhatia just barely hangs on - wins Valero in playoff!
Truly the most dramatic wire-to-wire win in recent history this week. Akshay was leading by several strokes at the end of the first, second, and third rounds. He then shot 68 on Sunday, but his playing partner, Denny McCarthy shot 63 and force Akshay to birdie the last to get into a playoff.
As if things weren’t chaotic enough, Akshay injured his shoulder celebrating his made putt, but would head back to the 18th tee anyway. McCarthy then did the unthinkable and laid the sod over his approach into the green from inside 100 yards. Right in the water.
Akshay hit a close approach and that sealed it. McCarthy made double.
Congratulations to Akshay on his first PGA Tour win and entry into The Masters!
