Nacho Elvira just barely holds on at the Soudal Open!

Nacho Elvira led the field by four shots heading into the final found at the Soudal Open in Belguim. Fortunately that was (just) enough of a lead for him to take the victory after an even par final round. Romain Langasque, Niklas Norgaard, and LIV Golf player Thomas Pieters all came within one shot of chasing him down.

The 37 year old Spaniard claimed his second DP World Tour victory. His last being the 2021 Cazoo Open.

Congratulations to Nacho Elvira!

Davis Riley wins his first individual tournament on the PGA Tour!

Last Wednesday, Davis Riley received news that his sister Caroline had had a seizure at work, a tumor was discovered, and doctors recommended an immediate surgery. Davis was on the brink of withdrawing from the event, but as he lifted the trophy Sunday afternoon, having won the tournament by five shots over Keegan Bradley and Scottie Scheffler, I’m sure he’s happy he didn’t.

Davis had won the Zurich Classic last year with Nick Hardy, but this marks his first individual PGA Tour victory.

However the Charles Schwab Challenge came with a tragic and humbling reminder that even professional athletes are vulnerable to the struggles of life as after withdrawing late Friday, Grayson Murray took his own life at the age of 30. Having won this years Sony Open, Grayson was 8 months sober and seemed to be succeeding in the ongoing battle versus his inner demons. Grayson’s parents indicated they wished the event go on, and players honored his legacy by wearing red and black ribbons on their hats, representative of his favorite hockey team, the Carolina Hurricanes.

Listen to these words from Harry Higgs on the passing of Grayson Murray after his win on the Korn Ferry Tour this week:

Richard Bland wins the Senior PGA Championship

In May of 2021, after 478 starts on the DP World Tour, Richard Bland claimed his first victory. He was the oldest first time winner in European Tour history.

This week, in his first Senior start ever, he claimed victory at the Senior PGA Championship by three shots over Richard Green. Despite a shaky third round where he finished three over par, he came out and shot -8 in the final round to take the title!

Congratulations to Blandy, what a story!
