Jbe Kruger wins the weather shortened Mercuries Taiwan Masters!
A weather system called Typhoon Krathon made things difficult at the Taiwan Masters this week as they weren’t able to play any golf on Thursday or Friday. At this point it looed like the event might be cancelled as a whole, but the forecast improved. They’d go on to pay 54 holes over two days, all shotgun starts.
A back and forth final stretch between Jbe Kruger, who had his wife caddying for him this week, and Korean Jeunghun Wang made for an exciting finish where they found themselves tied on 16. A two shot swing on the final hole, favoring Kruger, meant he’d win his first Asian Tour event in five years. He’s been struggling with form and fighting to keep his playing priveledges, so this win goes a long way for him.
I probably made it as hard as I could on myself. I can’t get it on the fairway, I can’t get it on the green, I am trying to make birdies, and then the last hole I hit it in the fairway finally.
Congratulations to Jbe Kruger!

Tyrrell Hatton wins his 3rd Alfred Dunhill Links Championship after tying the course record at St. Andrews!
An incredible third round of 61 had Tyrrell Hatton leaping into the solo lead at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship over Nicolas Colsaerts. Things weren’t all smooth sailing from there, though. Tyrrell would make a double bogey on 13 in the final round, and follow that with a bogey on 14. Fortunately he’d built himself a little cushion, so that he was still tied for the lead after Colsaerts birdie on 15.
The pair remained tied for the lead coming down the stretch and the pair would both hit their drives into the “Valley of Sin”. A fantastic putt from Hatton gave him just two feet for the birdie, while Colsaerts left himself around 8 feet.
Hatton would convert while Colsaerts would just miss the putt, meaning Hatton reclaimed the one shot lead he started the day with and won the tournament!
Congratulations to Tyrrell Hatton!

Kevin Yu wins the Sanderson Farms Championship in a one hole playoff against Beau Hossler!
A playoff that for a short moment looked like it might never happen due to an all time ruling situation ultimately ends after just one hole with Kevin Yu winning!
Kevin birdied the 72nd hole in regulation to tie Beau Hossler at -23 and get himself into the playoff, but the interesting part is how Beau Hossler made his par.
He hit it up the left side, directly behind a tree. We’re talking two feet from the trunk of the tree, directly in line with the pin. His only shot was directly sideways in either direction. In an interesting attempt to manipulate the TIO rules, he asked a rules official if he could be granted relief because the grandstands, on the opposite side of the tree were between him and the hole.
He was trying to say if he could curve the ball around the tree that the grandstands would be blocking his path to the hole and when the official said something along the lines of “we both know it’s not possible to do that”, he asked for a second opinion.
He’d end up punching out sideways and having 130 yards in for his third shot on the par 4, where he’d end up making a solid par to get into a playoff.
He’d hit it to almost the same spot in the playoff, but this time not directly behind the tree. Kevin hit a fantastic approach from the fairway leaving himself just a few feet for the birdie, and Beau would leave his second shot into the bunker. Kevin made the putt and would claim the Sanderson Farms Championship!
Congratulations to Kevin Yu!
