30 year old Nico Echavarría gets his 2nd PGA Tour win in as many seasons at the ZOZO Championship!

The Colombia native found himself two shots clear of Justin Thomas and three of Max Greyserman after three rounds at the ZOZO Championship at Narashino Country Club in Japan. However, that lead had vanished after 9 holes on Sunday. He’d enter the back nine in a three way tie for the lead.

Fortunately for him, Thomas and Greyserman would both struggle to make birdies on the back 9. Justin Thomas would make 8 straight pars in a stretch that had him missing several makeable mid-range birdie putts. Greyserman the same. While he did birdie 14, which was a two shot swing with Nico, that was the only birdie he’d make coming home.

Nico would play the back 9 at two under par which included a birdie on the final hole to win the ZOZO Championship by one stroke over both Justin Thomas and Max Greyserman.

Congratulations to Nico!

Ben An hits the shot of the year - wins the Genesis Championship in South Korea!

While the most memorable moment of the Genesis Championship might have been Tom Kim’s lip out on the final hole of regulation, Ben An hit the shot of the day, week, and possibly year.

Ben An found himself two shots back of the lead held by fellow South Korean Tom Kim with four holes to play. On the 568 yard par 5 he was 290 yards out he opted for the big stick. He’d his driver off the deck, on a slight downhill, water left, into an elevated green, leaving himself 12 feet for eagle. The only way it could have been better is if he’d have made the eagle put. Birdie was enough, bust just barely.

Tom Kim would lip out on the final hole from about 7 feet and make a par, meaning the two South Korean stars were headed to a playoff. A birdie on the first playoff hole for Ben An meant he’d claim the victory over Tom Kim. Following the win, Ben An shared a heartfelt, emotional moment with his grandmother, who was in attendance to watch him claim victory in his home country. A very cool moment.

Congratulations to Ben An!

This week on the DP World Tour:

The DP World Tour takes a one week hiatus this week before the start of their two event playoff. Starting on November 11th they’ll be playing in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links in UAE.

Asian Tour
Lee Chieh-po steals the win from Uihlein at the final moments of the International Series Thailand

After 54 holes Peter Uihlein found himself with a three shot lead over a number of players at the International Series Thailand event. He’d open with a comfortable two under on the front nine and still maintain a one shot lead over Lee Chieh-po. Two more birdies on the early parts of the back 9 kept things even, and he’d actually be up one shot as he hit his tee shot on the 71st hole of regulation.

Lee Chieh-po would finish birdie birdie, and Uihlein par-bogey meaning that Lee would earn his maiden victory on the Asian Tour. He’s been in tremendous form this past month or two, finishing T9 at the Donghae Open, 4th at Yeangder TPC, 3rd last week at the Black Mountain Championship, and now getting the win here at the International Series Thailand! What a run.

Congratulations to Lee Chieh-Po!

This week on the Asian Tour:

The Asian Tour heads to Indonesia this week for the BNI Indonesian Masters which is hosted at Royale Jakarta Golf Club. Some of the Asian Tour’s best talents will be in attendance as they look to remain in strong form for the final stretch of the International Series. John Catlin, Jinichiro Kozuma, Ben Campbell just to name a few. Making his International Series debut is Range Goats GC captain Bubba Watson. As you know he was relegated out of the league, though as a captain he can appeal his way back in. Part of that appeal will be showing he can still compete at the highest level, so he’ll be looking to show that to be the case this week.
