As he tends to do, Nick Taylor wins in dramatic fashion!
One shot back of the lead through 71 holes at the Sony Open in Hawaii, on a reachable par 5, Nick Taylor needed something special to give himself a chance. His playing partner, Nico Echavarria, was going to make par at worst, so a birdie would get Taylor into a playoff.
That’s when he hit the shot of the tournament. A chip in eagle on the 72nd hole got him to -16 which would be enough to match Echavarria’s birdie and the pair would head to a playoff.
They would both birdie the first playoff hole, and then Nick Taylor would hit his approach on the second to inside 3 feet. Echavarria would hit his approach to about 7 feet, but his first putt would slide by, leaving him more than he started with. Then he’d miss that one, opening the door for Nick to secure his 5th win.
Congratulations to Nick Taylor!

Justin Rose captains Great Britain & Ireland to a dominant win at the Team Cup!
It was all team Great Britain & Ireland at the Team Cup, hosted at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort. After three mixed format sessions, GB&I had a comfortable lead heading into Sunday singles, up 11-4. The team was made up of Justin Rose, Laurie Canter, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Tom McKibbin, Aaron Rai, Jordan Smith, Matt Wallace, Paul Waring, and Matthew Jordan.
Tyrrell Hatton (over Thorbjorn Olesen) and Tommy Fleetwood (over Matthieu Pavon) would head out first on Sunday and both win their matches 3&1, sealing the victory for GB&I.
MVP of the event for me was Tommy Fleetwood, who secured full points in all of his matches.
Everybody just played so well. I always find it very motivating and inspiring being around the lads in a team environment, you want to get best out of yourself. Happy that we got it done this time and sure we’ll enjoy it later.
Congratulations to Great Britain & Ireland at the Team Cup!
