With 7 birdies and one bogey through his first 17 holes on Sunday, the France born Julien Sale found himself with a 3 shot lead as he teed off on the 18th hole. Though he’d make his second bogey of the day, the final round 65 was enough to win by one stroke over Sadom Kaewkanjana and Tomoyo Ikemura at the Philippine Open!
Not only is this Julien’s first win as a professional, he’s just become the first player to ever win their Asian Tour debut!
“It feels great. It hasn’t sunk in yet, but it feels so good to have my first professional win and my first win on the Asian Tour as well”
Congratulations to Julien Sale!
A big week for the Asian Tour as the International Series kicks off with the International Series India event at DLF Golf and Country Club! Some of the worlds greatest players will be playing in India for the first time as the field includes Bryson DeChambeau, Joaquin Niemann, Paul Casey, and more as they look to gear up for the LIV Golf season.
Having started the final round with a two stroke lead over the field, Alejandro opened with three birdies in his first 5, giving himself a comfortable five shot lead over the field.
While the gap at one point dropped to three strokes, it never became an issue as del Rey would make another streak of birdies on the back to eventually secure his third professional win, his first on the DP World Tour, by four strokes at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship!
Congratulations to Alejandro del Rey!
This week marks the fourth week of the International Swing on the DP World Tour as they head to Bahrain for the Bahrain Championship. Last year this event was won by Dylan Frittelli for his first win in six years. It’s played at Royal GC in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Here’s last year’s recap of the event:
Through incredibly challenging conditions in the first few rounds, Harris English was able to hold on and edge out the field to get his fifth win on the PGA Tour. He’d make 12 consecutive pars in the final round as he watched the names below him changing throughout the day. At one point he’d dropped one stroke behind his playing partner Andrew Novak, but ultimately Novak would finish third.
This is Harris English’s first win since becoming a father.
“I might have looked calm out there on the course, but inside your emotions are going crazy. I just know how hard it is to win. It’s just so much fun. You’ve got to soak it in when you do it.”
Congratulations to Harris English!
This week on the PGA Tour is the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, hosted at the great Pebble Beach. Last year this event was shortened to 54 holes due to weather and was won by Wyndham Clark who shot a course record of 60 in what would be the final round.
Here’s the recap:
